We supply high quality, frozen and rigorously tested donor sperm samples to infertility clinics across India.
We are in full compliances with all relevant regulatory requirements as described by WHO & ICMR.We practice the standards and guidelines of ICMR for donor selection, screening as well as for processing, testing & distribution of semen specimens.
Our donors come from a diverse cross section of society and are in good physical and mental health. We have donors with us, ranging from experts to students. Prior to admission, each donor candidate must pass stringent screening requirements and a comprehensive examination. Screening will continue as long as the donor is active. Donors genuinely want to support social causes by helping others.
We also ensure that the stringent standard of six months quarantine period is enforced so that sample quality is not compromised on any front.
All tests are performed in NABL, NABCB & TUV certified laboratories.
The Semen Bank – Laboratory Director is a Senior Embryologist with years of experiences in Embryology.
All our Professionals are members of the following societies:
All of our semen donors meet relevant ICMR eligibility requirements. All tests are performed in NABL, NABCB & TUV certified Laboratories. The donors must test negative or non-reactive to the required tests on initial evaluation. The donor specimens are held in quarantine for at least 6 months after which the donor is retested and found to be negative or non-reactive prior to the release of the samples for clinical use. A summary of records used to determine donor eligibility will accompany each specimen shipment. This record lists each of the tests and results.
About Our Donors:
Strict criteria are set for the acceptance of prospective donors. Nine of ten potential donors are rejected and denied participation in our program. All of our donors have an extensive medical genetic evaluation including a physical examination, a detailed family history and ancillary tests. The laboratory tests performed during the initial screening include the following; Chemistry panel with liver enzymes, complete blood count, ABO group & Rh type (blood type) urinalysis, HIV-1&2 (Human immunodeficiency virus type I&II), Hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, HCV, VDRL, cytomegalovirus (CMV) antibody, gonorrhoea , Chlamydia, Thalassemia complete semen analysis which includes evaluation for volume, sperm concentration, sperm motility and morphology, a post-thaw semen analysis to assess the survival rate of sperm after the freezing process. Upon review of the donors records the medical director determine if any additional testing is necessary.
Donors are tested for infectious diseases every six months and in addition are tested for HIV-1, HIV-2, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C every one to three months thereafter.
All specimens are quarantined for at least 6 months before release. At the time of specimen release the donor has had a minimum of two negative HIV tests.
Short and long donor profiles are available. A SHORT profile is one page long providing personal and demographic information, and screening tests performed on the donor. A LONG profile is 9 or more pages in length and provides a detailed medical and genetic history, the donors personal information such as physical attributes, favourite music, favouritecolour, SAT scores, hobbies, etc.
Our stringent specimen identification processes are a combination of software systems and repeated physical confirmation.
Donor lists are updated quarterly. We cannot guarantee donor availability so we encourage you to make at least 3 selections and to place your order as soon as you have made your selection. Same day ordering and shipping of specimens is available upon request. Purchase and Storage agreements are available to guarantee donor of your choice. Pre-purchase agreements are available for clients wishing to reserve specimens for a second pregnancy by the same donor.
We require documentation of resulting pregnancies and live births from insemination sites and facilities. Pregnancy Data Forms are sent with every shipment and helps us to track and limit the number of pregnancies per donor.
All of our sperm donors are recruited locally and from universities and colleges and are between the ages of 18 and 45. Most are undergraduate and graduate students, some are professionals. They voluntarily contribute to help infertile patients to have healthy children. Our sperm donor requirements are very strict and only the best candidates are accepted to the program. Less than 10% of the applicants are eventually accepted as contributing sperm donors.
Potential sperm donors possessing pleasant and acceptable physical features undergo extensive screening. This includes, but is not limited to, character and personality evaluation, genetic testing, fertility assessment, physical examination and infectious disease testing. This is to try to prevent any potential infections and genetic conditions from being transmitted to either the recipient(s) or any children conceived. Once accepted into the sperm donor program, the health status of the applicant is continually re-assessed. Semen samples from screened sperm donors will be quarantined for a minimum of 180 days and released only after re-testing of the sperm donor for the required infectious disease screening. Donors are required to undergo rigorous medical assessment and blood testing.
The donor list provides basic information and characteristics for each donor. It is available quarterly. You may print the list or view online on our website.
A short profile is one page long providing personal and demographic information, and the results of screening tests performed on the donor.
A long profile is 9 or more pages in length and provides a detailed medical and genetic history, the donor’s personal information such as physical attributes, favourite music, favourite colour, SAT scores, hobbies, etc. This long profile is either recorded or original document the donor completed in his handwriting. The long profiles can be purchased by calling our office. We strongly encourage reviewing the long profile before making your final donor choice.
Donor matching is to help with the selection process. This optional program involves matching ABO group, RH factor & physical characterises of the client, husband, family member or other individual with that of donor.
The sperm donor database provides information on current donors such as their race, ethnicity, blood type, physical characteristics and attributes as well as educational and occupational achievements. We make every attempt to ensure the confidentiality of this procedure and the anonymity of the sperm donors. Please be sure to know the donor code when ordering vials or requesting information.
The identity of the donor shall remain anonymous. The clients have no right to learn the identity of the donor or solicit donor identifying information from any other source. The donor shall also be free from any responsibility to the biological offspring produced by his sperm.
The clients have the right to be informed of the limitations and potential complications involved with sperm donation. Sperm donation is not always successful and multiple treatments might have to be performed. Also, the sperm bank cannot completely guarantee that the sperm they provide is disease free or free of genetic abnormalities. Although genetic testing and disease screening techniques are advanced and sensitive, they are not fool proof. The client also must understand that she/he is fully responsible for the offspring conceived by use of the specimens.
Sperm donor and client rights are usually established via an informed consent form that is signed by the client and verified by the client's doctor. This form ensures that the client understands his/her rights and the rights of the sperm donor. The principle of informed consent is based on the principles of scientific and medical ethics.
